Hush, Hush. [thought I heard you callin' my name.]

I started reading a new book yesterday, HUSH, HUSH by Becca Fitzpatrick. Below is the synopsis of the book from the author's webpage. I bought this from Half Price Books on some random visit there because the cover looked cool lawl. Probably not the best way to choose a book, but whatever, I do it often and more often than not it turns out well.  [I will refrain from going off on how STUPID Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter was. Eeesh!] From the minute I started reading it I was drawn in. I love her writing style and cannot wait to see what happens next.

"For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life."

Someday, I might grow out of reading the genre of book that I read, but I doubt it. I have thought about it before, about how I should probably be reading books that are all deep and meaningful. I just don't have it in me. I like to escape in a book, and having to over think every little thing I read, wouldn't be much escape because I over think EVERYTHING all the time anyway. I feel the same way about tattoos though. I don't like deep meaningful tattoos that are full of a story. I get what I like and that makes me happy. [Well, some of them don't make me happy. Some of them I'd like to go back in time and fucking smack myself for even remotely considering, but such is life.]

Currently, there are 5 little kids upstairs running rampant. They are being good though. Just playing and having fun. I will admit it, honestly, I don't know how women with a shitload of spawn do it. My two -- drive me insane. I love them and I couldn't live with out them...but HOLY SHIT do they drive me insane. The paths of destruction that they leave EVERYWHERE that they go make it look they have a pet tornado on a rope that they drag around behind them. [It probably has a name and can do tricks.] It is mostly the girl spawn though, not the boy. The boy just likes to throw tantrums and see just how far he can push you.  But they are kids and that is what they do.

If You Give a Mouse Some Whataburger...

If you give a Mouse some Whataburger.

He is bound to ask for some ketchup.

When you give him some  ketchup, he is probably going to want something to drink to wash it down.

[I guess I should explain...lawl. That is a Jalapeno. I went and ordered a chicken sandwich from Whataburger to support the spawns school and I asked for jalapenos on the side. I looked into the bag and thought it was a toy mouse or something? ahah. So, of course, being the weirdo that I am, I had to draw a face on it and make it have adventures. It enjoyed the epic journeys it had, it told me personally.]

Book Suggestions

Jessica posted this on Pinterest. It is from This Blog.  25 Series to Read if you LOVE The Hunger Games.  I loved the books so I think I will check out a few on the list.  I know City of Ember is also a movie, and I believe I liked it enough to watch it to the end.

Annnnnddd cut.

So, I finally got to see The Hunger Games.

Quite possibly because I built it up so much in my head or because I had just read the books, but I was really disappointed. Not saying that it was terrible, because it wasn't, at all. I just think it could have been a bit better.

And here are reasons why I disliked it...
  • I hadn't been excited over who they cast for Peeta since the first trailer I watched, but actually seeing him IN it was even worse.
  • President Snow wasn't who I was picturing at all while reading the books.
  • Caesar Flickerman? Really? I actually LIKED how his personality was portrayed but what in the fuck was up with his hair? Couldn't they have picked an un-bald-irl man so that it didn't look like his 'hair' was one of those weird rubber halloween wigs.
  • The Mutations at the end -- FAIL. "In the 74th Hunger Games, the Gamemakers released a pack of wolf-like creatures on the final three tributesKatniss EverdeenPeeta Mellark, and Cato. These creatures were able to balance on their hind legs and jump very high, and had four-inch long razor-sharp claws. Each of the mutts resembled one of the tributes who had died previously in the Games, had a collar marked with the district number of the tribute it was based off of, and had eyes that looked remarkably human. It became apparent that the dead tributes' DNA was mixed with a form of wolf." NONE of which was in the mutts in the movie. [Source.]
  • The shaky-bouncy-constant-terrible movement on close up fights so that you couldn't even tell what was going on was really fucking annoying as well. And that doesn't normally bother me.
  • They never really explained why it was called The Hunger Games. And other details were left out that just made you guess about things.
Reasons why I LIKED it...
  • I loved most everyone cast in it. My favorites were Rue, Cinna, and Effie Trinket. They honestly did a really good job of casting every one of the Tributes but Peeta.
  • The Capitol was what I was picturing almost exactly, from the people to the food to the city.
  • The scene where Katniss gets pissed because no one is paying attention to her shooting skills -- wicked. One of my favorites by far.
  • I loved the chariot scene where Katniss and Peeta's outfits are aflame. It was epic.
  • The fire scene in the arena when Katniss strayed too far with all the walls of flame, the fireballs, etc was just amazing.
  • When Rue died -- I admit -- I teared up as she placed the flowers and did the salute and District 11 started rebelling.

I dunno, I don't want to complain about it, even though I totally did, because it was decent. Just not what I was expecting but then BOOKS are ALWAYS better than movies.

Here's your basket of kisses.

I haven't been in a blogging mood lately, which is apparently the case with a lot of people it seems. Well, people that I follow anyways.

Hopefully today I wake up in time for Matt and I to go see The Hunger Games. I am not sure what is wrong with me but I cannot wake up and get shit done that I very much desire to. I woke up one day at 7am and was productive [and also hella crabby by the end of it lawl] but that is about it. I guess really it is that I have things to do but none of them are super important and HAVE to be done so I am in no rush. It would be nice to get the shelves I want for DVD's made though. /shrug. Also, my emotions are in sudden death overtime the past few days, and I am hella edgy at the slightest thing. One of the top reasons why being a girl fucking sucks? Hormones. PASS on all that. Plskthxbai.

Yesterday after I picked the spawn up from school as we were coming in the door, the boy stopped and spazzed when he saw a lizard. I tried to shoo the little lizard away and in the process it jumped on me and proceeded to violate me. LOL. It landed on my neck/chest when it first decided to do acrobatics and ran down my boob. I thought it had fallen to the ground and was about to head inside when I looked down and it jumped to the ground. It had moved over to the other boob and was just hanging out like it owned the place. Some of the lizards that are out on the brick are really neat looking. Speckled. I tried to get a picture last night when I ran out for Starbucks but my ninja skillz need work.

We caught up with Mad Men the night before the new season started. Now that we are all caught up with Mad Men, we are watching Game of Thrones, which is pretty badass. Favorite characters so far are Daenerys and Drogo.  We only have 2 more episodes left to be done with the first season. TRUE BLOOD SOON! I've already watched True Blood but I can't wait to watch it again. Definitely one of my favorite shows.

I've gotten back into WoW a lot the past week. Farmed 2 more mounts from Halaa. The Halaa Battle Tokens proved to be SUPER easy to farm but the Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Sample took a while. Hella Netherweave cloth, BC greens, and Super Mana Potions later, I have 2 new mounts [That I will most likely never ride unless I am showing off mounts that I have that someone else doesn't] -- Dark War Talbuk and Dark Riding Talbuk. Anddddd ONLY have one more day on Pebble! wo0t. Matt turned me on to Auctionator -- GOD DAMN I am a fool for not listening to him sooner about that. Listing auctions has never been easier, not to mention kind of fun. lol.

Post!

Yay! My BFF will be here tomorrow at 9:33 AM. I cannot wait to see her and get to spend a few days with her. It has been since the beginning of January since I've hung out with her, which is too damn long for sure.

I finished a hella good book series last week -- The Hunger Games by  Suzanne Collins. It didn't take me long to read the first two books, a few days at most -- The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. The Hunger Games did take me about 20 pages to get into, I had started it on the plane when I moved to Texas and just couldn't get into it. Although, I might have been too distracted/excited/zomg to enjoy it. But when I finally sat down and started it again, I couldn't put it down. Catching Fire had my attention from the start, it was epic. The third book,  Mockingjay, was kind of slow but once I got into it, it picked up. It took me about a week to read that one. I cannot wait for the movie to come out. Apart from who they cast for Peeta, I think it is going to be excellent, and even he may grow on me. lol

I am in an online book club with a few friends. We started it about a year or so ago, but never did much with it. The person in charge of it and I decided we wanted to start up the reading a book every month idea again, so we all voted and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith won. I wasn't really thrilled about it because it doesn't seem like a book I want to read, but I am going to read it anyways.
So says Wikipedia . "The epistolary-style book is written as a biography of Abraham Lincoln, based on "secret diaries" kept by the 16th President and given to the author by a vampire named Henry Sturges."

I have been playing a little WoW lately. I finally got the last Tol Barad mount that I needed, so I won't have to go back in there unless I want to farm the Baradin Fox vanity pet  -- which will most likely be something I HAVE to have. Doh. It is sort of fun again, at least until I get bored.

She's to die for.

I am really trying not to watch The Walking Dead while Matt watches it next to me on the couch. I am failing miserably. These zombies are ballin' looking. Wtfx. I gave up around S1 Ep 3 and just haven't had time to watch it. There is a good possibility that I am a little lazy as well.

Hooray for the new badass table that Matt got us today. I am not happy with the rest  of the room, mainly the lack of decoration, but I am at a standstill with what I want to do with it. I don't want it overly stupid and girly. But I picked something with flowers to try and decorate it with. I dunno...I like it because it looks pretty retro and I put a pyrex dish on the table but I dunno, something isn't right.

I need to get done a few of the things I've put on this 'list' that I made like paint a wall in the kids rooms and iron my poster. I also need to start eating rightand walking or something. Holy Porky Valarie.

Cupcakes!

Cupcakes incoming.

I am trying a frosting recipe from here. I really love some of the foods that Emma posts on her blog, Food Coma. Hopefully it turns out right.

Today, I didn't accomplish anything that I wanted to really. I re-hung the two posters in my computer room, called a number I needed to, and went to lunch with Matt. I did manage to get out of bed at 11am after having nightmares all night. Let's chalk that up to eating chili that decided to invade not only my stomach, but my mind. I managed to take a nap after picking The Spawn up from school, and thus, made them miss Tae Kwon Do. 'Oops.'

I started filling out a FAFSA application yesterday. I don't know what to do about it really. I missed the deadline [it was actually yesterday] for one of the schools near here and the other one I just don't want to talk about. Eh, whatever. It will all work out.

For all of the outdoor planter ideas I have found, this is by far the most badass. I think I might try it. [Well, lets be honest here, I WOULD LOVE to try it. But, I lack the motivation to do much of anything. Maybe I will try to make it though.]
